WALK study
Laatste wijziging: 24 January 2022
The effect of a walking program on muscle strength, balance, body composition, bone metabolism and quality of life in postmenopausal women with decreased bone density
Principal Investigator: Dr. Monique Van Erum
Decreased bone density is a common problem among the aging population. To date, little attention has been given for a non-drug treatment of osteoporosis/osteopenia.
This study examines the extent to which a walking program, whether or not with a weight vest, can affect bone metabolism, muscle strength, balance, body composition and quality of life. This study could help in the prevention/treatment of osteoporosis and related consequences.
